Welcome!

It’s so nice to meet you!

Hi, I’m Jennifer. I’m a Christian, married to my best friend and Mama to 4 wonderful children- 1 boy and 3 girls, ages 3-10. One of my precious ones has run ahead to Heaven. So I homeschool my oldest two children, and my 3 year just helps keep our homeschool interesting. (Very interesting, indeed! IYKYK! 😂) They are all such a blessing to me. I was formerly a Kindergarten teacher and became a stay-at-home mom when my oldest was born. I have been homeschooling since the beginning and this is Year 5! (And trust me, the summer countdown is on!) I plan to homeschool all the way through high school, if the Lord allows and it is His will. All glory to God- I would not be where I am today without Him and His grace!

Grace Upon Grace

“For from His fullness we have all received, grace upon grace.” (John 1:16 ESV) I find it so encouraging that we don’t just receive some grace, or a single gift of grace, but “grace upon grace,” or as the NIV translates, “grace in place of grace already given.” It is an inexhaustible supply, overflowing from Jesus, who is the source of grace and truth. (John 1:14 NIV)

What is grace?

I think of grace in two different ways:

  1. Undeserved favor or gifts from God, the most significant being salvation, and

2. Power given by God for living this Christian life

Grace looks like a beautiful sunrise on a hectic morning that gently settles my heart and reminds me of Who is in control of this day. It is by God’s grace that we have beauty around us, to look at and enjoy.

Grace smells like a warm cup of coffee that my husband makes me before he heads out the door for work, reminding me that I’m cared for. It is by God’s grace we have been married for nearly 14 years and I have a loving and committed partner in this journey.

Grace tastes like the dinner my mom and dad provide for my family at the end of busy day, just to help out, reminding me that I’m supported. It is by God’s grace that I have family close by and willing and able to help me. It truly takes a village!

Grace sounds like laughter- a child giggling, a friend telling a hilarious story, or even me, laughing at myself! It is by God’s grace I can find humor in the day-to-day.

Grace feels like wet soapy hair on my toddler’s head, soft laundry being folded by my hands, and the warmth of my dog laying on my lap. It can also feel like the strength to keep going when I’m tired, patience to love and teach when I’m frustrated and endurance to not give up. Grace is God’s power in my life!

As a mom, I find so much reassurance in knowing that God is equipping me by His grace (His power) each day to live out what He has called me to do. I can trust that whatever He has planned for me, my children, my family and, yes, even my homeschool, His grace will meet me there, and it can’t run out. He is so good, y’all!

Scriptures for reflection on grace:

  • “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and all are justified freely by His grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus.” (Romans 3:23-24 NIV)
  • “For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith- and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God.” (Ephesians 2:8 NIV)
  • “For if the many died by the trespass of the one man, how much more did God’s grace and the gift that came by the grace of the one man, Jesus Christ, overflow to the many!” (Romans 5:15 NIV)
  • “So too, at the present time there is a remnant chosen by grace. And if by grace, then it cannot be based on works; if it were, grace would no longer be grace.” (Romans 11:5-6 NIV)
  • “And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that having all sufficiency in all things at all times, you may abound in every good work.” (2 Corinthians 9:8 ESV)
  • “But He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” (2 Corinthians 12:9 NIV)
  • “You then, my child, be strengthened by the grace that is in Christ Jesus.” (2 Timothy 2:1 NIV)

I love it Jen. It’s spot on and the message is so clear and full of truth. I’m so proud of your walk with God and that you teach your children not only their school lessons but also to put God before all. You are an example for all of us to follow. Love you!
